Our Building Process
Building new homes in Middle Georgia is a very complex undertaking. The team at C.W. Williams Homes has to efficiently coordinate the work of the subcontractors, suppliers, lending institutions, and the city or county authorities where the home is being built. Every new home we build follows a detailed construction schedule involving several stages. Below is a simplified schedule so that you may follow the process, if you are having a home custom built. (Individual homes may vary)
The Stages of Construction
Foundation Stage
• Excavation for foundation
• Form boards erected (if on a slab)
• Rough in underground plumbing and electrical
• Vapor barrier and termite treatment installed
• Foundation poured
Framing
• Interior & exterior walls are constructed
• Interior floors are constructed (if two story construction)
• Exterior sheathing installed
• Rafters or Roof trusses are installed
• Roof sheeting is completed
Exterior Finishes
• Shingles are installed
• Windows installed
• Exterior doors installed
• Brick and stone work completed
• Exterior siding completed
Pre-Sheetrock
• Rough plumbing is installed
• Rough HVAC is installed
• Rough electrical is installed
• All Rough inspections completed
• Wall Insulation installed
Sheetrock
• Sheetrock installed
• Ceiling insulation is installed
Interior Trim Stage
• Interior doors installed
• Base molding installed
• Staircase railing and balusters installed
• Window trim installed
• Tile flooring and showers installed
Painting, Cabinets and Countertops
• Interior walls and ceiling painted
• Cabinets and vanities installed
• Granite Countertops installed
• Mirror and shower enclosures installed
Flooring
• Finish electrical installed including light fixtures
• Finish plumbing installed and tested
• Finish HVAC installed and tested
• All flooring installed
• Appliances installed
Exterior Finishes
• Water service installed
• Back fill the foundation
• Driveways, Sidewalks, and patios are formed up and poured
• Outside landscaping is completed (weather permitting)
• Final clean completed
